Year 8 have had a very successful season winning the Reading Conference League. During the season the boys represented the school fantastically giving their all in every single match. This meant that they only lost one of their 9 games throughout the season against a tough Little Heath side. They finished third in the league table and qualified for the play offs. The team had to face the tough Little Heath School in the semi-final avenging their previous defeat by beating them 10-5. Bulmershe were our opponents in the final and were a tough side to beat. However Maiden Erlegh Reading came away winners with a score of 25-15, meaning the trophy was coming back with us! This feat is all the more impressive as the boys had not played rugby in year 7 and were a year behind all the other schools in the league. Each and every one of the players put in outstanding performances week after week with special mention for Kenaz who was the player of the season having scored over 10 tries in the season and being ruthless in defence.
The season culminated in a promotion/relegation game against Willink school. Maiden Erlegh Reading came away victorious winning 30-0 against a good Willink team. This means the team have been promoted to the Premiership for next season. Once again outstanding performance from all the boys and a great way to finish the season.
Well done to all the boys who have played in the team!
