Making the most of PROGRESS DAY & PROGRESS Evenings
Progress Day
As part of a whole school programme to build positive relationships and strive for success, we hold an annual Student Progress Day in the second half of the Autumn term. This is in addition to your child’s Progress Evening and is an important opportunity for the school to work with you to ensure your child makes good progress.
During this day, school will be closed to students and you will be invited with your child to attend an appointment to meet with your child’s tutor or another member of staff to discuss academic progress, engagement and general participation in school life. Students are expected to use the usual school time when not in this appointment to access learning from home of websites such as Sparx or Seneca.
Making the most of Progress Evenings
Maiden Erlegh School in Reading operate Progress Evenings virtually via the School Cloud system. The purpose of a Progress Evening is for you to meet your child’s subject teachers and to check that everyone understands the progress your child is making: their strengths and areas for improvement. Teachers will refer to reports and some parents find it helpful to have access to them on the evening.
We actively encourage students to attend these meetings with their parents so that all parties hear the same messages.
In order that these evenings run smoothly, we have put together some information and guidance which we hope will help.
Virtual Progress Evening Guidance
Please see this page here for guidance.
Each slot is 5 minutes long and will cut off automatically when your time is up.
Whilst all staff are expected to attend parents’ evenings we would ask you to understand that sometimes members of staff are unavoidably absent. In this case, you will receive an email informing you of their absence. Parents can contact these members of staff through the school email if they wish to arrange a telephone appointment.
