Pastoral Support
We are very proud of the quality of our pastoral care which means that students are known and valued as individuals. Each student is part of a mixed ability, diverse and inclusive tutor group and has their own personal tutor who usually follows them from Year 7 through to Year 11
Students will meet with their tutor to register each morning. During this session, the tutors share notices and information that is pertinent to students, which include opportunities for involvement in student voice, and enrichment activities. On a Friday morning, the school will attend an assembly, followed by a tutor period of 30 minutes. During this time students participate in the pastoral curriculum programme.
Each group of tutors is led by a Head of Year, who is responsible for coordinating support for the year group in their academic work, but also ensuring they have access to leadership and enrichment opportunities. To this end, they are supported by Activity Leaders who organise events and competitions throughout the year. Staff and students agree that these opportunities are exceptional and by joining in, students’ experience of the school is significantly enriched.
If parents have concerns or wish to discuss the pastoral care of a student they should see to contact the Head of Year through the school office.
